Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has decided to allocate an additional grant of Rs 2 crore to the women members of State Legislative Assembly for the development works in their constituencies for the year of 2025-26, on the occasion of International Women's Day.
According to a statement, the additional grant of Rs 2 crore to women is in addition to the fixed grants provided for public welfare projects. Following this women-centric decision of CM Patel, each of the 14 women MLAs representing Gujarat Legislative Assembly will receive an additional grant of Rs2 crore for various road development projects in their respective constituencies, the release stated. The women MLAs representing the state in the Legislative Assembly met CM Patel in person at the Assembly office and expressed their gratitude for this development-oriented decision. The Chief Minister urged each woman MLA to allocate Rs50 lakh from the additional Rs2 crore grant towards the "Catch the Rain" campaign, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision for rainwater harvesting and irrigation. Earlier in the day, a grand ceremony was held in Ahmedabad to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Pujya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharaj. Renowned social worker Pavan Sindhi attended the event, which was also graced by the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. To commemorate the occasion, a Rs150 commemorative coin was released in Ahmedabad. This coin will serve as a memento to remember Pujya Maharajji's life and teachings. The event was organized by the Buddhivani Foundation, which aims to promote the teachings and legacy of Pujya Shrimad Buddhisagar Surishwarji Maharaj. The foundation has been working tirelessly to spread the message of non-violence, truth, and compassion, which were the core principles of Pujya Maharajji's teachings. Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel upgraded 69 municipalities with a vision to make the state's cities dynamic, vibrant, and liveable through sustainable urban development. According to an official release, this initiative reflects Gujarat's commitment to leading the development journey of Viksit Gujarat, aligning with the Viksit Bharat resolution set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state's rapid development has led to a growing urban population. In response, this municipal upgradation aims to enhance infrastructure, expand public amenities, and accelerate the efficient execution of development-oriented projects, ensuring a higher quality of life for residents in municipal areas.
