Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari on Thursday praised the Prime Minister and the party leadership for the landmark decision to elect Rekha Gupta as the Delhi CM designate, highlighting the significance of a woman at the helm of power.

Speaking to ANI, Diya emphasized that the administration under Rekha Gupta would address pressing issues in Delhi and eliminate the corruption of the previous government, bringing relief to the people.

"It is a matter of happiness and pride for every woman that a woman has been given the opportunity. I thank the Prime Minister and the party's leadership for making a woman the Chief Minister, which is a significant achievement. Every woman in India is grateful for this," she said.

"Under the leadership of Rekha Gupta, the administration will run very efficiently. The problems in Delhi and the corruption done by the previous government will be eliminated, and the public will be freed from them," Diya Kumari added.

Delhi Chief Minister-designate and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rekha Gupta was today sworn in as the fourth woman chief minister of Delhi. Along with her, six other MLAs, including Parvesh Sahib Singh (Deputy CM), Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh, also took oath.

Before reaching the venue, Rekha Gupta took out a public rally and showed a 'victory sign' for her party. Visuals from the rally showed hundreds of supporters giving her flowers or paintings. She also offered prayers at the Hanuman Mandir at Kashmiri gate before proceeding to the venue.

An elected MLA from Shalimar Bagh seat, Rekha has served as general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi and as a member of its national executive committee. In these roles, she initiated numerous campaigns for the welfare of marginalized communities and women. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is forming a government in the national capital after 27 years.

BJP won 48 seats out of 70 seats, while Aam Aadmi Party could win only 22 seats in the assembly polls held earlier this month. Congress could not open its account in the third successive election. (ANI)
