BJP leader NV Subhash on Thursday asserted that the party is prepared for the upcoming MLC and local body elections and emphasised that the BJP is the front-runner in the race as compared to other political parties.

Speaking about the upcoming MLC Elections, BJP leader NV Subhash said, "We announced the MLC candidates before the notification came. In the local body elections also, we are geared up. We had a review meeting also. This shows that the BJP is the front-runner when compared to other political parties."

The BJP leader further criticised the Telangana government's pre-election schemes, labelling them as a failure.

He pointed to Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar's statement that it is not feasible to implement these schemes, citing financial constraints.

NV Subhash accused the BRS party of exacerbating the state's financial crisis and claimed that since Congress took power, it has sought excuses to eliminate beneficiaries.

"The schemes announced by the Telangana government before coming to power have been absolute failure. Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar very clearly said that it is not possible to implement these schemes. We should really have done the homework looking at the budget and financial constraints of the state because the BRS party had put up a big "dent" in Telangana's financial crisis," he said.

Adding further, he said, "Since the Congress has come to power, they are finding some kind of an excuse to eliminate the beneficiaries. This is very clear that the Speaker Gaddam Prasad said that these show the financial implications and the failure of the Congress party."

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to hold MLC elections in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on February 27 from 8 am to 4 pm while the counting will be conducted on March 3.

The last date for filing nominations is February 10 while the last date of withdrawal of nominations is February 13, according to ECI.

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) concerning these elections will come into force with immediate effect in the constituencies. (ANI)
