AIMIM MP and party's chief Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at Aam Aadmi Party, saying that the latter's leaders go to jail and come out as if "they had gone to their in-laws," referencing the investigation into the national capital's now scrapped excise policy.

Owaisi mentioned multiple AAP leaders such as Sateyndra Jain, Manish Sisodia, Arvind Kejriwal and another MLA for getting bail in the investigations for the excise policy. He compared it to how AIMIM candidate Shifa Ur Rahman had not yet gotten "justice," unlike the AAP leaders.

"I am still trying to understand, the Chief Minister of Delhi goes to jail, he faces serious IPC charges, PMLA is also imposed on him, Sisodia is also accused of alcohol scam, Jain is also accused, the current MLA of AAP from Okhla, he too has been put in jail. They go to jail and come out as if someone has gone to their in-laws' house...What is the reason that they get justice but our AIMIM candidate Shifa Ur Rahman does not get justice?" Owaisi said during a public meeting on Wednesday.

Rahman is the AIMIM candidate contesting from the Okhla assembly constituency for the Delhi elections.

Earlier on Wednesday, Shifa Ur Rahman, an accused in the Delhi riots larger conspiracy case was granted custody parole by Delhi's Kakardooma court to campaign for the Delhi elections between January 30 to February 3. Delhi will go to polls on February 5, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8.

As per court order, Rahman has to pay expenses for the Batallion carrying him from jail and back. He will be released from the jail on depositing an amount of Rs. 207,429 per day initially for first two days. Thereafter he has to pay expenses further before the expiry of two days and similarly for the last day.

Owaisi defended the party granting a ticket to Rahman, saying that they would give the ticket again in the next election.

"They keep asking us why we gave the ticket to Shifa, I want to tell them, if elections happen again, we will give the ticket to Shifa again...The ones you call anti-national, we will call them nationalist, the ones you call communal, we will call them secular," Owaisi said.

Meanwhile, another AIMIM candidate and former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain was granted custody parole to campaign for the Delhi elections. He will also be campaigning from January 29 to February 3.

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Karol and Sandeep Mehta orders that Hussain shall be released from jail as per jail manual timing upon the deposit of the expenses i.e. around 2 lakh per day (12 hours). (ANI)
