BJP MP Arun Singh on Saturday lauded the Election Commission on National Voters Day, calling India's elections the most unbiased in the world, with widespread trust in the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Speaking to ANI, Singh said, "We are proud of how the Election Commission (EC) conducts elections even in places with a single voter. The elections in India are the most unbiased in the world... The elections are being conducted fairly and everyone trusts EVMs. Fake narratives should be countered and dealt with strictly." He also slammed the Congress for questioning the ECI when they lose elections. "The Congress party and Rahul Gandhi always raise questions against the EC and democratic organisations when they lose elections. This is not okay and that's why the people of India do not support this party. Instead, the Congress should praise the EC," the BJP MP said. Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee pointed out that many questions have been raised by the opposition against the poll body. "The Election Commission (EC) inspires voters through the National Voters Day. However, many questions have been raised by the Opposition against the EC. If the EC doesn't function fairly, how will Democracy function?" he said. Earlier today, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge expressed concerns over the "institutional integrity" of the Election Commission of India (ECI), saying that it was a matter of grave national worry. "Even as we celebrate National Voter's Day, the ceaseless erosion of the institutional integrity of the Election Commission of India, in the last ten years, is a matter of grave national concern," Kharge posted on X. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his greetings, saying that the voter's day highlights the importance of participation in shaping the nation's future. "National Voters' Day is about celebrating our vibrant democracy and empowering every citizen to exercise their right to vote. It highlights the importance of participation in shaping the nation's future. We laud the ECI for their exemplary efforts in this regard," PM Modi posted on X. (ANI)
