Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday reaffirmed the state government's commitment to supporting farmers by purchasing crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

CM Saini highlighted that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently raised the MSP over the past decade, providing a financial safety net for farmers.

"We are buying crops on MSP in Haryana. For the last 10 years, MSP has been raised by the Modi government. The government is also giving compensation to farmers for damaged crops. The Prime Minister is providing money to the farmers through the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. He is also providing compensation to the farmers for their losses through the Fasal Bima Yojana," CM Saini said.

Emphasizing the need for a comparative analysis of the initiatives taken by the current government versus those implemented during the Congress tenure, the Haryana CM said, "There should be a discussion on what Congress had done during their tenure. It must be calculated that during the Congress regime, if the crops of farmers got damaged, how much compensation was given and how much money did our government give? There's a huge difference."

CM Saini also urged the farmers to reduce the use of pesticides in farming. "The farmers should ensure that pesticides are not used much in farming as due to the excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers various diseases are spreading. I request all organisations that it is our responsibility to make farmers aware of this. PM Modi has spoken about organic farming," he said.

The Chief Minister further announced that PM Modi will launch the Beema Sakhi Yojana in Panipat on December 9. "On December 9, the PM will launch Beema Sakhi Yojana in Panipat," he said.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday detained protesting farmers who are demanding compensation and benefits, including a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The farmers were detained at Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida today.

The protest, organized by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) along with other farmer groups, is being held to demand compensation and benefits related to agricultural reforms, including a legal guarantee for MSP.

Farmer leader and national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Rakesh Tikait, claimed on Monday that farmers participating in the 'Delhi Chalo' protest were stopped by police barricades as they attempted to march towards Delhi, demanding solutions to agricultural issues and a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The protest, organised by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) and other farmer groups, comes amid heightened security measures and traffic advisories in the Noida-Delhi region. (ANI)
