Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal expressed concerns over the law and order situation in the national capital, accusing Union Home Minister Amit Shah of failing to fix the law and order situation in Delhi over the last ten years.

Speaking with media persons on Thursday, Kejriwal putting the onus of security on the Union government, stating that while he was chief minister he had the responsibility to fix the conditions of schools, electricity, health and water while the responsibility to maintain law and order in Delhi belonged to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

"Ten years ago I was given the responsibility of schools, electricity, health and water. I fixed all. The condition of the water has improved. But the responsibility of security in Delhi is of the Centre. Amit Shah's responsibility is to maintain law and order in Delhi. Amit Shah has failed to fix the law and order in ten years. Delhi is being called the rape capital, the gangster capital. Today women and businessmen are the most scared," the former Chief Minister of Delhi said in a press conference.

Kejriwal further said that law and order has collapsed in Delhi with gang wars transpiring like they did in Mumbai. "Nearly 20 people have lost their lives in gang wars on the Yamuna side alone," he said.

"Today I am holding this press conference with a heavy heart. Law and order have collapsed in Delhi. Gang wars are being seen, like (it happened) in Mumbai. Delhi is the most unsafe capital in the world today. In three months, 20 people have lost their lives in gang wars on the Yamuna side alone," former Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal said.

He said that he was prevented by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and his people. from visiting a businessman in the Nangloi area of Delhi who was shot at.

"Yesterday I went to Nangloi to meet a businessman who was shot at. I had only gone to meet him but BJP MPs reached there with their people and I was stopped. Nothing will be achieved by stopping me, Amit Shah ji. I have received 160 calls over the phone asking for ransom," Kejriwal said while addressing a press conference in Delhi.

"A businessman received a ransom call from a number registered in a foreign country; if he does not pay, a shootout happens so that he pays out of fear. Today, doing business in Delhi is becoming a crime. There is no safety for women. All these incidents are happening a few kilometres away from Amit Shah's house. If Amit Shah is not able to keep the 20 km radius of his house safe, then how will he keep the country safe?" the former Delhi CM alleged.

Kejriwal further pointed out the recent murder of police personnel Kiran Pal, saying that even the police were not safe in the national capital.

"A policeman named Kiran Pal was killed. Even the police are not safe in Delhi today... I want to ask Amit Shah: do you agree that you are unable to manage Delhi? If the daughter does not return home after 7:00 PM, the parents worry. A woman was gang-raped in Sarai Kale Khan. A rape took place in Begumpur, which is eight kilometres away from Amit Shah's house," the APP convenor said.

"They have given the slogan 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.' It was our responsibility to educate the daughter; we educated her. It was your responsibility to save the daughter; you failed. Do you agree that you are unable to manage Delhi? If you cannot manage, hand it over to someone else," Kejriwal said. (ANI)
