Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, on Tuesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of neglecting the health infrastructure in the national capital, citing seven projects that have missed the deadlines.

The BJP leader visited Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Delhi's Dilshad Garden and alleged that the hospital is in ruin due to the AAP government's neglect.

"I am standing at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Dilshad Garden where a 1900-bed hospital was to be built. It is in ruins now. The work has been stopped for the last 1.5 years. The (Delhi) government is not taking care of it," Gupta told ANI.

"There were 7 projects like this and the government spent around Rs 1000 crores on the projects. Almost all of it went to waste because it was to be completed in February 2022 and now the government is not interested in completing it. The government has betrayed Delhi in the matters of health infrastructure," he added.

Gupta alleged that the AAP government has not built a single hospital after coming to power.

"In the last 10 years, the Delhi government has not built a single new hospital, has not added a single bed to the existing hospital and overall we can say that Delhi has been completely cheated," he said.

Earlier in the week, all seven BJP MPs moved the Delhi High Court, urging the court to direct the Government of NCT of Delhi and the Department of Health and Family Welfare to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The plea seeks a direction from the Delhi High Court for the Delhi Government to take all necessary steps to ensure that residents of Delhi are provided access to healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), on par with the residents of other Union Territories and States.

The plea states that the petitioners are seven elected representatives from the NCT of Delhi to the 17th Lok Sabha. In addition to their roles as lawmakers, the petitioners are also concerned residents of Delhi who are advocating for the beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the region.
