Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed grief over the demise of Wing Commander (Retired) MB Ojha who passed away on Sunday.

MB Ojha, who passed away on Sunday at 89, his body will be cremated at Mahadev Shamshan Ghat today at 11:30 am.

In a post on X, CM Sai posted and said, "Humble tribute to the brave son of Mother India. The news of the demise of Wing Commander MB Ojha ji, the pride of our Chhattisgarh, who participated in the wars of 1962, 1965 and 1971, is sad."

"When 90,000 soldiers of the Pakistani Army surrendered in the 1971 war, MB Ojha was also a direct witness to the surrender. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed soul and to provide strength to the bereaved family and their well-wishers," he added.

Wing Commander Ojha (retired) was a witness to the surrender of 90,000 soldiers of the Pakistani Army in the 1971 war.

On December 16, 1971, was the day when Pakistan signed the instrument of surrender in Dhaka, following a 13-day India-Pakistan War. With the surrender of over 93,000 soldiers, the Pakistan Army's capitulation against Indian forces was complete. Following this decisive victory, India announced itself as a major regional force.

The creation of Bangladesh was a devastating event for West Pakistan, the aftershocks of which continue to this day. Along with the physical fall of Dhakha, Pakistan was also defeated psychologically. The two-nation theory, that Muslims of the subcontinent formed a nation, was demolished.

For India, this battle is considered a historical occurrence. Because of this, December 16 is commemorated nationwide as "Vijay Diwas" to honour India's triumph over Pakistan. According to reports, 3,900 Indian soldiers are believed to have died and 9,851 were injured during the war of 1971. (ANI)
