Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar flagged off an 'EV Rally' as part of the CESL's (Convergence Energy Services Limited) 'EV as a Service' event on Sunday in a bid to curb the rising pollution in the national capital.

Speaking on occasion, Khattar said that the initiative is part of a noble cause and will help in curbing pollution in Delhi.

Highlighting the 'EV as a Service' program, he said, this program has been started for a noble cause, which was much needed for Delhi.

Speaking at the event here today, the Union Power Minister said, "Today, the event 'EV as a Service' has been started for a noble cause, a place like Delhi was in need of such an initiative. In the first phase, we will make the government vehicles which include vehicles of government officers."

The Union Minister rode a bicycle and a tractor during the CESL's 'EV as a Service' event.

Khattar highlighted the role of industrial activities, construction, and transportation in the rising carbon dioxide levels, contributing to Delhi's pollution crisis.

He underscored the government's commitment to tackling pollution by introducing eco-friendly initiatives, including the promotion of electric vehicles (EVs) as a sustainable transportation alternative.

"We have increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere artificially through industries, construction, and even transport is also contributing to the rise of pollution, to reduce pollution we have come up with various facilities and one of them is E-vehicles," he said.

Delhi continues to battle with air pollution with air quality being recorded at 335 in the 'very poor' category on Sunday morning, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai earlier this week chaired a meeting with concerned departments on the issue of rising pollution levels in the national capital. (ANI)
