Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday alleged that an attempt was being made by the BJP to divide people ahead of Maharashtra assembly polls and rejected party's charges about a purported letter allegedly written for support from All India Ulema Board to Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
She said those making charges should show any photo where the purported letter had been given to leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi and challenged to bring details about which Ulema board has written it. . She said that the issues in front of Maharashtra were unemployment, and injustice against women, farmers and attempt was being made by the ruling Mahayuti alliance to distract attention of people. The MP said an attempt was being made to create an atmosphere of fear in Maharashtra by the "Maha-jhooti alliance". "I have not seen the letter and have not heard about any of their demands. Show me any one photo where this letter has been given to any of the leaders. BJP is orchestrating this divide between Hindus and Muslims...The issues in front of Maharashtra are the issues of unemployment, and injustice against women, farmers...There is an attempt to create an atmosphere of fear in Maharashtra. Bollywood actors are getting threat calls, a politician was murdered in broad daylight...The BJP and 'Maha-jhoothi' alliance are creating this kind of atmosphere in Maharashtra...I openly challenge which Ulema Board is this which is verified, and registered and which has written this letter," Priyanka Chaturvedi said. Earlier in the day, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad had made allegations against the Congress and MVA over the purported letter. "Rahul Gandhi always talks about the Constitution...Religion-based reservation is not permissible under the constitution...Rahul Gandhi, the BJP would like to know because any reservation on religious grounds is prohibited. How does your President of Maharashtra Congress, Nana Patole tell the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind that we will consider their demand for a 10 per cent reservation for Muslims...How much more will you break the nation just for the sake of votes?... The Congress party is crossing all limits of Constitutional propriety and political propriety to get votes to defeat the BJP and NDA," Prasad alleged. Maharashtra Congress denied the BJP allegations and said no such letter was sent and Patole's signatures are fake. In a post on X, Maharashtra Congress said that Mahayuti alliance was resorting to lies in desperation seeing that it was losing the Maharashtra assembly polls. https://x.com/incmaharashtra/status/1854059063145111764?s=48&t=kIJ1uxcUo5wUmLgQZmg1lw "With defeat in sight, the corrupt alliance Mahayuti has started trying to mislead people by creating fake photos of things that never happened, and letters that were never sent. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patoleji's signature was also forged on this letter. But no matter how many lies you tell, truth will always come out," said the post written in Marathi. Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with votes for all 288 constituencies to be counted on November 23. (ANI)
