On the occasion of 25th State Foundation Day, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday paid tribute to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand State Movement with a wreath of flowers at Shaheed Smarak in Dehradun.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), State Secretary Radha Raturi and other dignitaries to attend the 25th Uttarakhand Foundation Day celebrations at Parade Ground. "I congratulate all the residents of Uttarakhand on the occasion of 25th State Foundation Day. I bow down before all those who have sacrificed their lives for the country. PM Narendra Modi said that the third decade of the 21st century will be Uttarakhand's decade, and we all will strive to live up to his words," CM Dhami told ANI. CM Dhami said that Uttarakhand entered the silver jubilee year and was formed as a result of the struggles made by martyrs. "Today the state of Uttarakhand has entered the silver jubilee year. The state of Uttarakhand was formed as a result of the struggles made by our state martyrs for the formation of the state," the Chief Minister said. Remembering former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on this occasion who laid the foundation of the state of Uttarakhand, CM Dhami said that continuous work was being carried out by the government to lead the state on the path of progress in accordance with the dreams of the martyrs. "Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, work is being done rapidly in every field to make this decade the decade of Uttarakhand," he said. Meanwhile, on this occasion, the Uttarakhand Ratna Award is being given to five people including CDS Anil Chauhan, folk singer Pritam Bharatwan, Dr Mahesh Kudiyal, Mata Mangala for social service, Hemant Pandey for film and art. Earlier, the Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has created a special identity by setting new dimensions of progress in the last 24 years. The Foundation Day in the state was being celebrated as the 'Devbhoomi Silver Festival'. It was the results of the efforts made by the double engine government and the cooperation of the people of the state that Uttarakhand was becoming a leader in every field, the Chief Minister said, adding that many "concrete steps" have been taken towards empowering the youth and women in the state. "We are continuously working towards the creation of a strong, safe and prosperous Uttarakhand by assimilating the basic mantra of 'Sankalp se Siddhi, Pragati Sang Samriddhi'. Come, on the occasion of Foundation Day, let us all together pledge to contribute to the development of the state and move forward towards making an advanced, strong and self-reliant state," CM Dhami said. "Our government is dedicatedly working towards realising the dream of the martyrs of the Uttarakhand State Formation Movement," he said. (ANI)
