The Indian Army reported on Friday that two terrorists involved in the Sopore encounter had been operating in North Kashmir. Additionally, a significant quantity of arms and other war-like materials was recovered from the terrorists.

"On the evening of 7 November, we received specific information that two terrorists were hiding in Panipura village. The Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF jointly conducted a search operation, during which the terrorists opened fire. Today, they were neutralised, and a large cache of arms and other material has been recovered," Brigadier Deepak Mohan, commanding officer of the 7 Sector RR, informed reporters.

"We learned that these terrorists had been active in North Kashmir over the past few days. Neutralising them is a major achievement for the security forces," he added.

The Brigadier emphasised the Indian Army's commitment to maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

"As you know, security forces have launched proactive operations against terrorists. We have seen success, with several notorious terrorists neutralised. We have received the support of the people of Kashmir in these operations, for which we are grateful. The Indian Army remains committed to ensuring peace in Kashmir," he stated.

The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a joint operation in Baramulla on Thursday after observing suspicious terrorist activity.

The operation concluded with the neutralisation of two terrorists in the Sopore area of Baramulla district on Friday following an encounter between the terrorists and security forces under the joint command of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. (ANI)
