Amid the Waqf property row Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy alleged that Congress is dividing people along religious and caste lines and asked the ruling government in the Karnataka to apologise to people.

While speaking to the media in Doddahalli village during his campaign in the Channapatna constituency, Kumaraswamy questioned, "How long will you continue to deceive people like this? Are you favoring one community while neglecting another? Apologize to the people and rectify the mistakes, or the day is not far when people will enter your homes. Just recently, a Congress MLC said that people could storm the Governor's residence like they did the Bangladeshi Prime Minister's residence. The same could happen here as well. Don't test the patience of the farmers."

As per the statement, Kumaraswamy refuted the idea that any Wakf-related files came before him during his tenure as Chief Minister. He added, "There was no Wakf decision made during the times of HD Kumaraswamy, Yediyurappa, or Basavaraj Bommai. The statements made by CM Siddaramaiah are baseless."

He clarified that no files related to giving farmers' land, Hindu temple land, or the hills of Ramanagara to the Wakf Board ever came to him, it added. "I don't know on what basis the CM is making these statements. Do not blame others for mistakes you have made. If there is any fault on our part, bring it before the public," he challenged Siddaramaiah.

"If anything related to Wakf occurred during my tenure, Congress is to blame. Back then, Krishna Byre Gowda was the Revenue Minister, and the current Wakf Minister was the Wakf Minister then too. If anything was done without my knowledge, it's not related to me. I never allowed any illegal activity, nor did I politicize such matters," he clarified.

The statement added that Kumaraswamy expressed readiness to counter any attempts to drag his name unnecessarily, stating, "I will not flee. The CM should not lie. He chants 'Satyameva Jayate' like Harishchandra, but he speaks lies every day," he said, criticizing the CM's statements.

"The Chief Minister must speak responsibly. Congress is dividing people along religious and caste lines, and this is the Congress party's downfall. Mallikarjun Kharge himself has said this. Congress will destroy itself through its actions," he warned.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Monday that he has told his officials not to issue any notices to farmers and withdraw the already issued notices also.

Addressing a public gathering here today, CM Siddaramaiah said, "The previous BJP government had also issued notices to those illegally occupying Waqf properties. Now I have told my officials not to issue any notices to farmers. I have instructed officials to withdraw the notices already issued to farmers." (ANI)
