Uttarakhand govt signs MoU for supply of local products for ITBP battalion

An agreement was signed between the Uttarakhand Government and the Indian Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at the Chief Minister's residence on Wednesday in the presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna.

The MoU for the supply of local products live goat/sheep, chicken and fish for the ITBP battalion deployed in Uttarakhand under the Vibrant Village Scheme was signed by Secretary Dr BVRC Purushottam from the Uttarakhand Government and IG Sanjay Gunjyal from ITBP.

CM Dhami said that while this agreement will increase the livelihood of the people at the local level, they will feel that in some way or the other we are connected with the security of the country.

"This will also increase the contact of the local people with the ITBP," he said.

He said that the people living in the border areas are the sentinels of the country. ITBP will act as a brand ambassador to promote the local products of the state.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that the availability of local products of the state remains in adequate quantity.

He said that a plan should be made to arrange for the supply of vegetables, milk, cheese, eggs to ITBP from the state.

Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that this important decision has been taken to increase the livelihood of animal breeders and fish farmers.

For this, he thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He said that this will also help in stopping migration.

This agreement will directly benefit more than 11 thousand animal breeders through more than 80 cooperative societies of the state. Which mainly includes 7 thousand women. 10 thousand animal breeders among sheep and goat breeders, more than 800 from the supply of poultry and more than 500 fish farmers for fish supply will get its benefit.

This is the first time in Uttarakhand in which such a large number of sheep, goat, fish and poultry farmers are being provided a market for marketing. An annual turnover of 200 crores is estimated from this. (ANI)
