Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) | October 19, 2024 2:41:46 PM IST
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday inaugurated Amaravati reconstruction works and while addressing the event he said that the farmers voluntarily came forward and contributed immensely by giving their land for the sake of development of Amaravati.

"Today, we are here to rewrite history. We started the state with a 16 per cent lower budget, yet within two years, we developed the necessary infrastructure for governance. We developed Hyderabad, laying eight-lane roads, and introduced the metro. Many criticized me for sanctioning 5,000 acres of land for the airport, but today, Hyderabad Airport contributes 16 per cent to the GSDP," said the Chief Minister.

"For the development of Amaravati as the capital, farmers voluntarily came forward and gave their land for its construction. More than 29,000 farmers contributed, and a total of 54,000 acres, including government land, were collected for building the capital city. In the past five years, the previous government neglected the farmers in the Amaravati region. These farmers have fought and protested for the capital city," he added.

The Andhra CM said that Amaravati is not just the state capital but also the nations pride.

"Nobody had visualised how we planned for a model capital. Without farmers, such a city cannot be built. We have to study about best global practices. Amaravati is not only the state capital but nation's pride. This is going to be the original green city we are building now. We will develop some more cities. Tirupati will be another hub. We are very clear that we will go for population management and not population control. India will become a global service provider. We are planning everything. We have to adopt best practices. We have a blueprint. Now how to add and how to bring all the agencies is important. First, we will start with a blueprint and then we will continue improving," Chandrababu Naidu said. (ANI)
