Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh) | October 5, 2024 6:11:45 PM IST
Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party national President JP Nadda hit out at Congress on Saturday while addressing a public rally in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. He said that according to Mahatma Gandhi's wishes, Congress should have been disbanded after independence.

The party's national president also inaugurated the party's 563rd karyala in the country till now, with the party karyala in Sirmaur being the latest one.

"There is a Congress party which came at the time of independence. After independence, Gandhi said to disband the Congress party, it is no longer needed. In the desire to gain power you kept moving the party from left to right, right to left," said the national president.

"These days Rahul Gandhi has shifted from speaking the language of urban naxals to the language of people who want to divide the country," he added.

He also thanked the party workers and leaders in Himachal for electing a BJP representative for all the four Lok Sabha seats in the general elections for Himachal Pradesh.

"I have come to Himachal for the first time since the Lok Sabha elections results, and also come to Nahan for the first time. You people have given all four seats to the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, I think you all dearly for that. You have sent Suresh Kashyap once again to the parliament as an MP. It is with your blessings that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a third term PM, that too after 60 years such a feat has happened."

He recounted the days of him being a young party worker, on how BJP used to rent spaces in Himachal to do party work.

"So many elder party leaders are here, so many workers, you all have seen those days where we used to run the party office from a rented flat, where we took a space above a shop. We borrowed any carpet from a vyapar mandal and after our meeting, we used to bring it back to them, we have seen these days. If you want to experience sunlight then you have to remember the dark times," he said.

Praising the efforts to make the party office as modern as possible, he highlighted that the space has been given multiple computers, a press conference room, a kitchen etc among other things.

"This karyala has all the technology equipped which is needed. Computers for social media, conference room, a hall for press conferences, a kitchen and mess, guest room etc. We call it a karyala, not an office. An office starts at 10 and closes at 5. Karyala is open 365 days, 24 hours a day. It is our sanskar kendra," he said in the public meeting.

He further praised the policy decisions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi such as abrogating Article 370 and making triple talaq illegal.

"We said before that Article 370 would be read down, and we made it a reality in August 6 2019. Similarly, with triple talaq, even Supreme Court said that triple talaq should not be there.

He also criticised the Rajiv Gandhi government for changing the law but not being able to remove triple talaq.

He said, "In the name of vote bank, Rajiv Gandhi's government changed the law but could not remove triple talaq, they could not even implement the Supreme Court's order. I want to tell you that triple talaq does not exist in Pakistan, nor in Bangladesh, nor in Afghanistan, nor in Syria, nor in Iran, nor in Indonesia, these are not Muslim countries. There is no triple divorce here. Only PM Modi said that our muslim sisters should get their freedom from triple talaq and he ended that." (ANI)
