Tripura police seize 355 kg ganja worth around Rs 70 lakh in Chandrapur area

West Tripura district police on Saturday seized 355 kilogrammes of ganja worth approx Rs 70 lakh from a Lorry in the Chandrapur area, said police.

"As part of the #NeshamuktTripura initiative, West Tripura district police seized 355 kilogrammes of ganja worth approximately Rs 70 lakh from a Lorry at Chandrapur area today. The Tripura police's role towards the government's vision of building a Drugs-free Tripura is commendable," Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha posted on social media platform X.

On September 18, Agartala Government Railway (GRP) Police seized 44 kg of drugs worth Rs 2.52 lakhs at Agartala Railway Station, railway police.

A search operation was conducted near the 13th rail track on the Agartala to Jirania route, near Agartala Railway Station. During the operation, authorities recovered 44 kg of dried cannabis from bushes alongside the tracks. The narcotics were allegedly being smuggled out of the state via train.

According to the police, the seized cannabis has an estimated market value of approximately Rs 2.52 lakhs. The Agartala GRP (Government Railway Police) station launched an investigation to identify the individuals responsible for this illegal consignment. (ANI)
