"Odisha government has been planning for development of sports infrastructure in the state": Chief Minister Charan Majhi

Odisha Chief Minister Charan Majhi visited the stadium here on Saturday morning and interacted with the people.

The CM confirmed that the state government had been planning for the development of the sports infrastructure in the state.

Speaking to the mediapersons, he said "The Odisha government has been planning for the development of the sports infrastructure in the state. I have discussed with the Collector and Sports Minister about the construction of a national-level stadium in Keonjhar."

Further, he added that plans were also being made to construct stadiums in every district headquarters and mini stadiums in every panchayat.

"We are also making plans to construct stadiums in every district headquarter and mini stadiums in each panchayat," he added.

Earlier, on August 29, as a part of the then-ongoing celebrations of the National Sports week that were held from August 26 to 31, the Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department had organized a performance featuring Kickboxing and Pencak silat in the backdrop of the iconic Dhauligiri Peace Pagoda at the site of the historic Kalinga War.

Member of Legislative Assembly Babu Singh had graced the celebration as the Chief Guest. The officials of the Amateur Kick Boxing Association of Odisha and the Penchak Silat Association of Odisha were also present.

Similarly, the department had also celebrated an athletic event at the Kalinga Stadium. Athletes of the state-run sports hostels took a Fit India Pledge and later participated in several track and field events including sprint, long jump and javelin throw as a part of the celebrations.
