Mumbai: 2 killed, 3 injured in collison between two-wheelers at Sion Bridge

Two people were killed and three others injured in a collision between a motorcycle and scooter at Sion Bridge, police said on Thursday.

According to the police, the driver was driving the vehicle in the wrong direction at full speed on the bridge which led to collision between the two vehicles.The intensity was so strong that the driver Animaesh fell off the bridge and the two vehicles got completely damaged in the incident.

Upon receiving the information about the accident, the police immediately reached the site and got all five injured admitted to a hospital in Sion. The doctors declared Animesh dead while the remaining four were admitted to the ICU of the hospital where Ashfaq Ansari succumbed to his injuries later.

As per police input, the condition of one of the injured person is stated to be critical.

The deceased have been identified as Animesh More (23) and Ashfaq Ansari (28) and the injured are Amol Kunchikaurve (20), Vignesh Sarvade (20) and Mehendi Sayed (30).

Animesh, Vignesh and Amol are residents of Vikroli, while Ashfaq and Mehendi are natives of Shivaji Nagar.

Police said, "On Wednesday at around 4 am, the three Vikroli residents were going for Ganesh idol immersion to Girgaon Chowpatty while Ashfaq and Mehendi after paying obeisance at Jama Masjid were on the way to their home in Shivaji Nagar. (ANI)
