Punjab: Sunil Jakhar, Assam CM to accompany Parneet Kaur to file nomination from Patiala tomorrow

Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will accompany the BJP nominee from Patiala Parneet Kaur on Monday to file her nomination papers for the Lok Sabha polls.

Thereafter, Sunil Jakhar will accompany Arvind Khanna, a BJP candidate from Sangrur, to file his nomination for the elections.

Anita Som Parkash, BJP nominee from Hoshiarpur will be filing her nomination papers on Monday in the presence of CM Rajasthan Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Union minister Hardip Puri will join Rana Gurmeet Sodhhi, BJP's Ferozepur candidate, to file his nomination on Monday.

Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi and Prem Chand Bairwa of the BJP will accompany Geja Ram Valmiki, the BJP's Fatehgarh Sahib candidate, on Monday to file the nomination papers.

Former IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu will also be filing her nomination papers from Bathinda today in the presence of former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and senior BJP leader Harjit Singh Grewal.

On Tuesday, Dr Subash Sharma, BJP's candidate from Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat, will be joined by Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Deputy CM Rajasthan Diya Kumari and Union Minister Shekhawat and senior BJP leader to file the nomination papers.

In Punjab, voting for its 13 seats will take place in a single phase. The seventh and final phase on June 1 will see voting in Gurudaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala constituencies.

In the previous Lok Sabha Elections of 2019, the INC-led UPA alliance secured eight seats with a vote share of 40.6 per cent, while the NDA managed to secure four with a voting percentage of 9.7. The AAP, making its debut, secured one seat.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and AAP bagged 4 seats each while Congress secured 3 seats. The BJP managed to secure only two seats.

The counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
