Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who spoke against Telangana, has "no right" to ask for votes from the state.

Speaking to ANI, CM Revanth Reddy said that the Congress target is to win 14 seats in the Lok Sabha elections from Telangana adding that the party would definitely get "double-digit" seats.

"Double-digit seats, our target is 14. But we will definitely get double-digit seats. We know the people of Telangana. BJP has nothing to do with Telangana because the PM said during the budget session that Telangana committed a mistake by making Congress win, Bills were passed behind closed doors...People of Telangana remember this. Narendra Modi, who spoke against Telangana, has no right to ask for votes from that Telangana," CM Reddy said.

On the Congress party's claim of changes in the Constitution, if the BJP comes to power and PM Modi's rebuttal to the same, Telangana CM asked why the 2021 census has not happened.

"We are asking Narendra Modi and the BJP why did 2021 census not happen. The British started the practice of census in 1881 and after 140 years, Narendra Modi did not do it. They have no answer for the same. Congress has clearly said about removing the cap of 50 per cent in reservations and increasing the BC (Backward Classes) reservation. But the BJP is against this. Why? They are not answering this either. Daal mein kuch kaala hai," he said.

He further reacted to PM Modi's "looting under the guise of RR Tax" attack and said that these kinds of statements do not "suit" the Prime Minister.

"It doesn't suit Narendra Modi to make such a statement. The entire world knows about Rahul Gandhi - what kind of a man he is, how honest he is. They had three Prime Ministers, he doesn't have his own house. What will Rahul Gandhi do with the money?... It is not correct for PM Modi to level corruption charges against such a family. If he tries to lower his own level and that of the PM post, we can't say anything. But it doesn't suit him," he said.

Telangana CM responded to BJP's claim that Congress would give Dalits' quota to Muslims and said that the BJP is trying to "mislead people."

"We provided reservations to Dalits, Tribals and OBCs. We also provided minority reservations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We did not take away anyone's reservation to give it to someone else. We are promising the removal of the 50 per cent cap to increase OBC reservations. We provided the SC-ST reservation, not the BJP. So, why will we scrap the reservation that we provided? The BJP is attempting to mislead...In 10 years, they have failed completely...This will not help them. People are clever," he added.

Voting for all 17 seats in Telangana will take place on May 13 in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

In the 2019 general election, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won nine seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party four, Congress three and AIMIM one seat.

Lok Sabha polls are being held across seven phases till June 1 and votes will be counted on June 4. (ANI)
