The resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has drawn reactions from several film personalities, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj and Aditi Rao Hydari among those responding to the development on social media.

Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday after weeks of student protests over alleged irregularities in examinations, including NEET. The protests at Delhi's Jantar Mantar were led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), with activist Sonam Wangchuk joining the movement and observing a 26-day hunger strike.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas reacted to a post about Pradhan's resignation on her Instagram Stories. She used clapping, smiling and heart emojis to respond to the news.

Meanwhile, actor-politician Kamal Haasan spoke about the need for dialogue between the government and protesters. He said the current situation should lead to wider changes in the education and examination system.

In his post on X, he wrote, "Glad to see dialogue replacing confrontation. Dissent deserves dialogue. This is democracy in action. Pellet guns, electric shock batons and nail-studded lathis have no place in the land of Bapu."

Haasan also said that attacks on security personnel and public property should be looked into fairly. He called for accountability on all sides and said, "Equally, attacks on security personnel and public property must be examined fairly. Accountability cannot be selective."

The actor-politician also called for a National Commission on Education and Examination Reform, saying the current moment was bigger than the issue of paper leaks. He said such a step could help restore trust in exams, reduce academic stress and bring changes to the education system.

"The Government's willingness to engage is welcome. Now let us ensure that dialogue leads to lasting reform. The road ahead is long, but Indians must walk it together."

Prakash Raj also reacted to Pradhan's resignation and praised Sonam Wangchuk and those who stood with the protesting youth. In a post on X, he wrote, "Congratulations my Dear Cockroaches.. Dear Sonam wangchuk sir and every single one who stood by the youth . You Have proved that you can bring a regime down to its knees (sic)."

Actor Aditi Rao Hydari also shared a message in support of the young protesters. Calling it a win for Gen Z, she wrote, "Gen Z for the win. More power to honesty, dignity, non-violence, accountability, freedom of speech, and intelligence. May these always be louder than fear, division, and hate." (ANI)
