Chad Michael Murray will star in the upcoming drama feature 'Disconnecting Peter,' reported Variety.

The film centres on a fractured family grappling with unresolved trauma stemming from a past tragedy. Peter Ruck (Murray), a troubled husband and father, finds himself trapped by his own destructive habits, threatening to unravel the family unit. His wife, Elizabeth, fights to hold things together at all costs, while their daughter, Jenna, confronts the collapse of her aspirations to attend Juilliard. As tensions mount, the family must decide whether to confront their pain or succumb to the chaos, reported Variety.

The project is written and directed by Christopher Beatty. Eddie Micallef and Benjamin J. Murray will produce 'Disconnecting Peter,' reported Variety.

Production is slated to begin in January 2027 in New Jersey, with casting currently underway. Stephanie Holbrook is serving as casting director.

"The script is very personal to me, and I wanted to share my vision with a mass audience. I'm thrilled to be working with an actor as talented as Chad to help bring this complex character to life," Beatty said in a statement, as quoted in Variety.

Murray is known for his work in the Netflix series 'Sullivan's Crossing,' as well as his recent work in 'Freakier Friday' and the Netflix romantic comedy 'The Merry Gentlemen.' He first came to prominence on 'Gilmore Girls' and 'One Tree Hill.'

Other credits include the first 'Freaky Friday,' 'Fruitvale Station' and 'A Cinderella Story.' Beatty previously wrote and directed the psychological thriller "Bibi," starring Elizabeth Paige and Tammy Blanchard, and produced "Chlorine", which featured Kyra Sedgwick and Vincent D'Onofrio. (ANI)
