Indian fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani left attendees spellbound with his latest collection on Day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week 2025 that took place on Saturday in Mumbai.

His pret label, OTT, presented its second collection in partnership with FDCI, where it showcased a mix of both Indian modern aesthetics and modular separates.

Models walked the ramp in hand-embroidered chikankari on linen and reimagined Rabari craft. Models were also seen walking the ramp in silhouettes such as evening dresses and day jackets.

Speaking to ANI, Tarun Tahiliani explained how his designs focus on versatility and inclusivity, sharing that his new collections include flowing capes, which can be styled in different ways to suit women of all ages.

"At the end, it was actually like a cape because I keep being told I must make clothes that are not so fitted, so women of all ages and sizes can wear them. So we'd actually taken a beautiful handloom fabric, and it's all finely pinned out, but you can't see it on the ramp, so it had a body. And then she started with the belt, but you can wear it with pants, you can wear it as shown over a skirt, you can wear it over a sari, you can wear it over anything," he said.

Tahiliani also spoke about his vision for contemporary Indian fashion and said that he believes in maintaining a balance between traditional Indian styles and modern silhouettes.

"There's a fashion that's for India because if you walk through the stores, there are some beautiful chicken pieces and bridal wear. And then there's contemporary fashion which is for India and maybe for the rest of the world because the silhouettes are more Western," the designer said.

"What I'm trying to do with this collection is keep India in Indian or Indo-Western silhouettes because I don't want to be the designer doing cocktail dresses. I mean, we might have a few, but they're meant to be layered with something. I love our heritage, and that's what I want to always keep alive in my work," he added.

Lakme Fashion Week 2025 kicked off on Wednesday and will conclude this Sunday, with several exciting fashion shows lined up. (ANI)
