Yash Chopra's 'Darr' is considered one of the iconic films in Indian cinema. It played a huge turning point in Shah Rukh Khan's career as he played the iconic role of Rahul Mehra, an obsessive lover of Juhi Chawla's character in the film.

However, for Yash Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan was not the first choice for the role of the antagonist in the movie. Superstar Aamir Khan, in an interaction with Javed Akhtar during a press conference in Mumbai, revealed that he was supposed to work in the film 'Darr' but later didn't do the film for some reasons.

In an interaction with Javed Akhtar during the press conference of 'Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar' film festival, the 'Sarfarosh' actor shared why he backed out from Yash's iconic film Darr after being offered the role of an antagonist in the movie.

He said, "There was a film, Darr, which I was supposed to do, but I didn't do it. But that was for some other reasons, not creative reasons. And even now, I feel that it was right. Because, the tone which Yash Ji wanted in the film, Shah Rukh was suiting slightly better in that."

Aamir continued, "So in retrospect, I felt that if I had done it, something else would have happened because I was looking at it differently. I don't really regret that because I think the film was well made and was successful. And I don't think I would've played that tone of role which Yash Ji wanted."

The Sarfarosh actor also said that he read the script of the blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan and advised writer V. Vijayendra Prasad to cast Salman Khan in the lead role.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I had heard the script, but I had actually told the writer, Mr Prasad, that Salman would suit better. When I heard the script, that was my reaction," said Aamir Khan.

In a grand celebration of Aamir Khan's cinematic legacy, PVR INOX has announced a special film festival titled 'Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar', dedicated to the superstar's contribution to Indian cinema.

The festival, set to commence on March 14, coinciding with Aamir Khan's birthday, will run until March 27, offering audiences a chance to revisit some of his most iconic performances on the big screen.

The event was officially launched with a press conference in Mumbai, where legendary lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar joined Aamir Khan and PVR founder Ajay Bijli for an insightful conversation.

The trio also unveiled the festival's trailer, further amplifying excitement among fans. Speaking about Aamir Khan, Javed Akhtar reminisced about his first encounter with the actor, revealing a lesser-known fact,

"Aamir worked in the first film written by me. I was writing the film Faryaaz in Panchgani for Nassir Hussain. When I saw Aamir, I immediately told Nassir that he is a star and should start with a romantic film."

"Aamir's first film was produced and written by me. Interestingly, my son Farhan's first film was also with Aamir," he added.

The 'Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar' film festival will be hosted across PVR INOX theatres nationwide, offering fans a chance to relive the magic of Aamir Khan's most celebrated performances on the big screen. (ANI)
