Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 6: Internationally acclaimed sarod maestros Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash continue to elevate Indian classical music on the global stage through groundbreaking collaborations across the world. Fresh from their mesmerizing on-stage performance with British pop sensation Yungblud at Lollapalooza India , the duo has also collaborated on Gorillaz' ninth studio album, The Mountain , contributed to the Grammy Award-winning album Meditation: Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama , and joined forces with legendary American rock guitarist and Eagles member Joe Walsh for a unique fusion of the sarod and electric guitar. From the grand stages of Carnegie Hall in New York to London's iconic Royal Albert Hall , Amaan and Ayaan have spent decades taking the richness of Indian classical music to audiences across the world.

Now, the celebrated duo turns inward to revisit one of India's oldest and most cherished musical traditions with the release of Sarod Serenades: Indian Instrumental Lullabies, Vol. 1 , a heartfelt collection of instrumental lullabies that reimagines the timeless melodies mothers have sung across generations. Released worldwide, the album is now available across all major music streaming platforms.

The 7-track album draws inspiration from traditional Indian lullabies while embracing the emotional richness of Indian classical music. With Sarod Serenades, Amaan and Ayaan, through the evocative voice of the sarod seek to recreate the warmth of a mother's embrace, offering music that calms, comforts and gently carries children and even adults into moments of peace and stillness. Although lullabies naturally share a gentle pace, each composition features its own unique combination of musical notes and ragas, carefully crafted to create a soothing listening experience.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, Amaan Ali Bangash said, "Every culture has its lullabies, and India has cherished this tradition for centuries. Across every region, mothers have gently hummed melodies to soothe their children into peaceful sleep. These simple songs, carried through generations, became an inseparable part of our collective memory. Through Sarod Serenades, we wanted to honour that beautiful tradition and bring these timeless melodies to today's families."

Sharing his personal connection with the project, Ayaan Ali Bangash said, "As musicians, we have spent our lives exploring the emotional depth of Indian classical music. As parents, we discovered the extraordinary power of gentle melodies to calm a restless child. Sarod Serenades was born from these two worlds. We wanted to create a space of peace, security and love, where the gentle sound of the sarod could become part of bedtime rituals for a new generation."

Unlike contemporary sleep playlists or white noise tracks, the duo believes the album draws its strength from the emotional and spiritual resonance of Indian classical music.

The album also carries deeply personal memories for the brothers. Recalling his childhood, Amaan shares that while growing up, their father would often sing to him and his siblings before bedtime, while his mother introduced them to regional Assamese lullabies. Those melodies, he says, became lifelong reminders of childhood, love and belonging.

Titled Vol. 1 , the album marks the beginning of an ongoing musical journey. Drawing inspiration from India's vast and diverse cultural landscape, the brothers hope to continue exploring lullabies from different regions, with subsequent volumes already in the works.

The project received the blessings of their father, the legendary sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan , who has long believed that music nourishes the soul and plays an important role in the emotional and intellectual development of every individual. While many of these lullabies have traditionally existed as folk melodies passed down through families, Sarod Serenades offers a fresh instrumental interpretation rooted in that same heritage.

The album features collaborations with an accomplished ensemble of musicians, including Soumen Kutty Sarkar on keyboard programming, Deb Sankar Roy on violin, Uday Mukherjee on tabla and percussion, while the album has been mixed and mastered by longtime collaborator Saawan Dutta .
