According to a 2020 Ministry of Health and Family Welfare report, India faces a shortfall of over 3 million healthcare workers, and the shortage is particularly pronounced in rural areas. Many doctors and healthcare professionals prefer to work in urban centres, where they have access to better facilities, infrastructure, and opportunities for career advancement. As a result, rural health centres often remain understaffed or rely on underqualified personnel, leading to inadequate care and poor health outcomes.
