All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) spokesperson Kovai Sathyan called remarks made by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Edappadi K Palaniswami as "below-the-belt" and said Udhayanidhi Stalin and MK Stalin have nothing to tell people of Tamil Nadu about their achievements.

Stalin, who is contesting from Kolathur, made this remark during a rally in Tiruchirappalli earlier today, where he said Edappadi Palaniswami ran the government only to award contracts to his relatives.

Stalin criticised the previous AIADMK regime, accusing it of misgovernance and favouritism. "We do what we say, and we say what we do. I am the son of Karunanidhi. The AIADMK, which was in power for 10 years, pushed Tamil Nadu into decline. The BJP has not provided any funds to Tamil Nadu. Edappadi Palaniswami ran the government only to award contracts to his relatives," the Chief Minister said earlier.

Hitting out at CM Stalin, Sathyan said, "Udhayanidhi and his incompetent spineless father, MK Stalin, have nothing to tell the people of Tamil Nadu as their achievements. So, it's a rhetoric trying to make below-the-belt remarks on an individual, particularly our leader."

The AIADMK spokesperson further challenged the DMK leadership to engage in a public debate. "We've repeatedly challenged them - if you want to discuss your achievements versus AIADMK, let's have it on a common dais. Neither Udhayanidhi nor his father agreed," he said, alleging that the ruling party was deflecting attention from governance issues.

Sathyan also accused the DMK of resorting to personal attacks instead of highlighting welfare schemes. "Rather than talking about the achievements and welfare schemes, DMK has nothing to talk to. That's why they resort to these kinds of below-the-belt remarks. It is his grandfather Karunanidhi who is the number one and the biggest slave of Tamil Nadu, and he became their slave way back in 1999. So let Mr. Udhayanidhi if at all if there were any achievements from his government, talk about it in the rally... We too can make such remarks, but AIADMK is a party that maintains its decorum and decency," he added.

The Tamil Nadu Assembly will go to the polls on April 23 to elect all 234 members, with counting of votes set for May 4. (ANI)
