The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is intensifying its preparations for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Amit Shah is expected to visit the state on December 30 and 31.
Party Sources told ANI that Shah is expected to arrive in Kolkata late on December 29 and meet the state BJP unit to review their strategies and progress for the upcoming polls. Several organisational meetings and interactions with top leadership, as well as central observers assigned to the state, will be conducted during this visit. Senior leaders and Union ministers will begin public outreach initiatives and indoor meetings from January onwards. So far, the BJP has held over 1,500 street sabhas across West Bengal to engage citizens and disseminate its message. The party is targeting all of the state's 80,000 booths. In a significant move, several office bearers within the BJP's Bengal unit are set to undergo changes, with announcements expected shortly. The party is focusing on strengthening grassroots organisation and expanding outreach, sources told ANI. Earlier, the BJP launched a new organisational strategy in West Bengal, dividing the state into six zones, each assigned to influential leaders from other states. The goal is to overcome weaknesses in booth-level organisation, local network, and Bengali sentiment. The party has divided the state into six zones. West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya condemned the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing its leader, Humayun Kabir, of being part of a "B-team" seeking power through radicalised means. "Humayun Kabir is the B-team of TMC. TMC is providing the money and the people. If they cannot come to power by looting votes, then they will try to come to power with the help of radicalised people like Humayun Kabir. The people of West Bengal have resolved to remove Mamata Banerjee from power," Bhattacharya said. (ANI)
