Days before the Lok Sabha polls, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhawma said that they are neither in alliance with the INDIA bloc nor the ruling NDA and his party wants to take its decision in its own hands.

"We are not supporting anybody. We are neither in INDIA nor NDA...We want to take the final decision in our own hands. Nobody in Delhi should take the final decision for us," Lalduhawma, the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) chief, said speaking to ANI on Wednesday.

On the importance of the Lok Sabha polls in Mizoram, Lalduhawma said, "This is about the election of MP, the representative of the people of Mizoram. We have formed the government here. We need an MP who is going to support us and who will be able to cooperate with us."

Speaking about their rival contestants in the state, the Chief Minister said, "Since they (BJP) have their own candidates we cannot say that there is no fight..."

Lalduhawma said that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is a foregone issue and is not relevant now.

"CAA is a foregone thing. It is not a new thing now. This was an issue of the past. It is not relevant now," he said.

In a snub at the INDIA bloc, Lalduhoma pointed out that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee deciding to contest solo in her state is as good as leaving the opposition alliance.

"Nitish Kumar had left INDIA and Mamata Banerjee has not left INDIA officially but practically she left. You have seen the candidates in West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya. There is no alliance. It is as good as leaving the alliance already. It weakens INDIA," the Chief Minister said.

Speaking about his party's performance after forming the government in the state, the ZPM chief said, "We had announced the 100-day program and within these 100 days, we achieved all the points. There are some extra achievements as well. People know about us, people know about our achievements and performances."

Mizoram is slated to vote on Friday in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls. (ANI)
