Attacking Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi over her claim that the Bharatiya Janata Party won't win more than 180 seats if "EVMs are not tampered", BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said on Wednesday that the statement proves she is conceding her party not winning over 100 seats.

Speaking to ANI, Poonawalla said, "First of all, statements like these prove that she is conceding that Congress is not even getting more than 100 seats, because even when she predicts doomsday situation for BJP, she is saying 180 seats."

He further attacked the INDIA bloc accusing it of attacking the constitutional authorities of the country and coming up with "excuses" in case of losing the elections.

"INDI alliance has done what it does best, to attack the constitutional authorities of the country. If the same INDI alliance leaders win an election in Telangana, Punjab, and Delhi, the EVM is fine. But when they lose elections or when they know that people have taken sankalp (resolve) of 'Abki Baar Modi ji 400 paar', then they try to raise doubts on Constitutional bodies and public," the BJP leader said.

"EVM toh bahana hai, Priyanka ji ne Rahul ko haar se bachana hai..." he added.

Later in the day, he also addressed a press conference and attacked the Opposition alliance, terming it as "Parivarik Dynasty Alliance" having no vision or mission.

"On one hand, there is the NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is working with a mission and a vision that talks about taking this country's economy forward from 10th to 5th to 3rd position," Poonawalla said.

"On the other hand, there is an alliance, namely the INDI alliance which also talks about PDA -- Parivarik Dynasty Alliance. It can be called as 'Parivarik dynasty alliance'. And this alliance lacks in any kind of mission or vision for the country. All they have is 'Apna-Apna' commission, corruption and political ambition," he added.

Earlier in the day, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said that if fair elections are held without any tampering of EVMs, then the Bhartiya Janata Party will not secure more than 180 seats.

"On what basis are they saying that they will get 400, are they astrologers? Either they have done something from before and they know that they will secure more than 400 seats. Otherwise, how can they say that they will get 400 seats?... If today in this country, the elections are conducted in such a way in which there... is no tampering of EVMs, then I can say with full confidence that they will not gain more than 180 seats, in fact, they will win less than 180 seats," Gandhi told ANI.

Priyanka Gandhi also said that she views the election from the people's point of view and stressed that the elections should be conducted based on the issues of the people. "I am saying this everywhere to the people, that this election should be the election of the people. It should be conducted on the issues of the people."

The campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections will close today evening as the first phase of the election is scheduled to be held on April 19.

The 2024 general elections will be held in India in seven phases, from April 19 to June 1, to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. The results will be announced on June 4. (ANI)
