Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) | April 15, 2024 7:59:22 PM IST
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Kesav Prasad Maurya on Monday lashed out at the Opposition for criticising the manifesto of the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections and said that his party has fulfilled all the promises made in the 2014 and 2019 elections.

Maurya also hit out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and said that the opposition leaders are suffering from "mental illness."

"This is Modi's guarantee Sankalp Patra, and the whole public is joining it, whoever gives it from the opposition, whether it is Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi or any other leader, all of them have vision impairment, which is why they are not able to see the goodness of this Sankalp Patra. They have a mental illness," the BJP leader said.

He also said that the BJP will fulfil its promises announced in its manifesto if elected to power for the third time.

"BJP has a history of fulfilling all its promises and we have done it in 2014 and 2019. Whatever we have said, whether it is about Ram Mandir, removal of 370 from Kashmir, Uniform Civil Code or One Nation One Election, we have fulfilled all these promises and also presented our report card among the public and we are confident that the public will keep their trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party and a government of 400 will be established in the country," he added.

Maury also exuded confidence in his party winning more than 400 seats for the 543-member Lok Sabha.

"People will reply to this, on June 4, at 4 PM, with a majority of 400 plus, Modi ji will form the government," the Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM added.

The BJP released its poll manifesto on Sunday with the tagline "Modi ki Guarantee," with a focus on more development, women's welfare and a roadmap for "Viksit Bharat" (developed India). The manifesto released by the party promised 'One Nation, One Election' and "single electoral roll."

However, several opposition leaders criticised the poll document of the ruling party, with Rahul Gandhi slamming the BJP "for not focusing on inflation and unemployment in its manifesto."

In a post on social media, he said that inflation and unemployment were "missing" from BJP's manifesto and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech

He said in his X post (in Hindi), "The BJP does not even want to discuss the most important issues related to people's lives. INDIA's plan is very clear -- recruitment for 30 lakh posts and a permanent job of Rs 1 lakh to every educated youth."

"This time, the youth is not going to fall into the trap of PM Modi. He will now strengthen the hands of Congress and bring 'employment revolution' in the country," he said.

The Lok Sabha polls in India are scheduled to take place from April 19, 2024, to June 1, 2024, to choose the 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha. These elections will be conducted over seven phases, with the outcome being declared on June 4. (ANI)
