Promising Indian golfer Arjun Prasad has officially joined the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) ahead of the four-week second half of the season scheduled to tee off in late September.
The 27-year-old was formally welcomed into the circuit by IGPL CEO Uttam Singh Mundy, joining close contemporaries and fellow tour standouts including Aman Raj, Karandeep Kochhar, and Pukhraj Singh Gill on the league's roster, according to a release. Prasad's induction comes on the back of an exceptional run of form. After knocking on the door with multiple podium finishes over recent years, he registered his breakthrough professional title at the Tamil Nadu Open in Coimbatore in late 2025. That victory anchored a career-best campaign featuring two runner-up finishes and nine top-10 results, seeing him finish fourth on the domestic Order of Merit. Speaking on his decision to join the league, Prasad highlighted the circuit's player-centric approach and international pathway, "There are a lot of things the AM Green IGPL is doing that make tremendous sense for players. The vision for growing the sport professionally and at the grassroots level is clear, and the tour ensures players are well supported. The pathway into the Asian Tour is a massive incentive--it gives us a structured route to perform, earn our cards, and advance to higher international tours," as per the release. Regarded as one of the country's brightest junior prodigies, Prasad turned professional in 2017 at just 17 years old after a stellar amateur career. In 2016, he became only the third Indian after Rashid Khan and Abhijit Singh Chadha to win the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final in China, alongside representing India at the Eisenhower Trophy and earning the Best Amateur award at the Indian Open. That same year, he became the youngest player to secure an Asian Tour card through the 2017 Qualifying School. To maintain his upward trajectory and train in a dedicated high-performance environment, Prasad recently relocated his base to Gurugram to practice alongside his tour peers, a move that translated into immediate dividends across the domestic circuit and appearances on the Hotel Planner Tour in Europe. Beyond individual growth, Prasad is looking forward to the league's franchise structure. "Golf is inherently an individual sport, so the team format in the IGPL brings a dynamic we rarely get to experience," Prasad added. "The camaraderie and team spirit add a great layer of excitement. Competing against and learning from some of the best players who have performed globally will only sharpen my game.
