Displaying strength and determination, Ashok, hailing from Haryana, secured a bronze medal in the 65 kg weight category at the Para Asian Games 2023. Ashok lifted 192kg in his second attempt, solidifying his place on the victory podium.

Ashok attributed his success to the unwavering guidance of JP Singh, the chief coach of Para Powerlifting, who not only mentored him but also led him to the achievement and support of the team.

Ashok had previously clinched a medal at the Asia Oceania championships.

He said that securing a bronze medal at this level is no easy feat and requires hard work, dedication, and a committed team.

He said that he needs more support from the Haryana government and SAI to change the colour of medals in future events and for the preparation of the Olympics 2024.

Ashok also extended his appreciation to organizations that have been instrumental in his journey, including the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), Haryana Government and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), a release said. (ANI)
