Bangladesh fast bowlers -- Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam will return home after the ongoing Durban Test against South Africa due to their respective injuries, the chief selector Minhajul Abedin said on Sunday.

Taskin sustained an injury to his right shoulder during the first innings of the first Test against South Africa in Durban and it prevented him from bowling on the third evening and most part of the fourth morning. The right-arm pace bowler did bowl a couple of overs after Tea on Day 4 but eventually had to walk off from the field due to his sore shoulder.

On the other hand, Shoriful was ruled out from the opening Test due to back problems. Both pacers are expected to return on April 5.

"They are returning home as both of them are injured and we are not flying any substitute for them. We have four fast bowlers remaining in the squad. So we are covered," BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.

Taskin was the Player of the Series in Bangladesh's 2-1 ODI series win against South Africa last month. The pacer has been Bangladesh's pace spearhead in all three formats, so his absence will be a major blow to the visitors for the remainder of the series.

"Taskin had complained of right shoulder pain and difficulty of movement during the second day's play in the first Test. He has received physiotherapy, supportive taping and painkillers for bowling in the second innings. His recovery is expected to take around three weeks," said national team physio Bayjedul Islam.

"Shoriful felt pain on his left ankle during training on 29 March. An MRI confirmed a grade 1 ankle impingement syndrome with medial ligament injury. He has already started his rehab and is likely to resume training towards the end of this month," he added.
