Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh) | October 16, 2026 5:31:14 AM IST
A major accident was averted after the Valsad-Hisar Express (04728) collided with a car stranded on railway tracks at level crossing gate number 192 on the Banjali-Sejawata bypass in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ashwini Kumar said.

According to Kumar, the train's loco pilot spotted the car from a distance and reduced the train's speed, helping prevent a potentially serious accident.

The car, driven by Pranav Upadhyay, became stranded on the railway tracks as the level crossing gate closed, leading to the collision. Senior railway and district officials rushed to the spot following the incident.

The car was subsequently removed from the tracks using a crane, allowing normal rail traffic to resume.

Kumar has ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident following allegations of negligence by the gate staff on duty. The inquiry is expected to examine the circumstances that led to the car becoming stranded on the tracks and the role of the personnel responsible for operating the level crossing gate.

Further details are awaited. (ANI)
