A CBI Court in Jaipur has sentenced former Branch Manager of Bank of Maharashtra, Gopalpura Bypass Branch, Jaipur, Ram Bharos Meena, to seven years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2.85 lakh in a Rs 3.61 crore bank fraud case.

The court also sentenced private person Makhan Lal Meena to three years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 25,000 in connection with the case. The court passed the judgment on September 30, 2026.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered the case on November 9, 2016, on the basis of a written complaint filed by the Bank of Maharashtra, Zonal Office, Jaipur, on June 3, 2016.

According to the complaint, Ram Bharos Meena, who was then Branch Manager, illegally sanctioned loans in 17 accounts between January 15, 2015 and May 6, 2015, without valid loan applications, documents or security.

The CBI alleged that Meena abused his official position and resorted to fraud and forgery, causing a wrongful loss of Rs 3.61 crore to the bank.

After investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet against the two accused on July 9, 2020. Charges against them were framed on December 1, 2021.

After completion of the trial, the court convicted both accused and sentenced them accordingly.

This keeps the conviction and seven-year sentence as the lead, while retaining the loan details, amount involved, investigation timeline and sentence of the second accused. (ANI)
