Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) State General Secretary and MLC Lella Appi Reddy has written to the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner on Monday, seeking immediate intervention over the alleged continued obstruction in the issuance of caste/community and No-Dues/NOC certificates, citing a statewide server failure.
Appi Reddy sought an impartial inquiry into the role of senior officials of the Grama/Ward Sachivalayam and Village/Ward Secretariat (GSWS) system and urged the Commission to issue directions to district authorities to ensure that eligible candidates receive the documents required to contest the forthcoming local body elections. Speaking to the media, Appi Reddy alleged that the TDP-led coalition government was withholding the certificates because it feared facing YSRCP candidates in the elections. From the Chief Minister to local leaders, they make boastful declarations at public meetings about their readiness for local body elections. Yet, when our prospective candidates seek the necessary certificates, they are told that the servers are not functioning, he said. He said candidates were being forced to make repeated visits to village and ward secretariats and recalled that YSRCP had already alerted the State Election Commission about the possibility of such obstruction. Appi Reddy alleged that the delays were part of an attempt to prevent YSRCP candidates from entering the electoral contest. People across all sections are dissatisfied with this governments performance. Elections must be conducted freely and fairly, and administrative services must not be used to deny anyone the opportunity to contest, he said. The YSRCP MLC accused the TDP-led coalition government of implementing what he called Red Book governance from its first day in office and alleged that it was attempting to suppress sections supporting YSRCP. He further alleged that the government was using the police machinery to secure an electoral advantage. Demanding action against officials found responsible for any misuse of authority, Appi Reddy urged the State Election Commission to ensure immediate issuance of all pending certificates, including through manual processing wherever necessary. He reiterated that YSRCP was ready to contest the forthcoming local body elections and would continue to pursue the matter with the State Election Commission. (ANI)
