Keralam BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has redefined Indian politics over the past 25 years by bringing the idea of seva into governance.

Speaking to ANI on the occasion of PM Modi's birthday, Chandrasekhar said it is about a leader who has, in many ways, redefined Indian politics.

"He has brought the idea of seva selfless service into the vocabulary and practice of Indian politics and governance. In the past, we witnessed dynastic politics, corruption, scams, and political families accumulating wealth. What we see today, according to our perspective, is a political leader whose mission is to improve the future of every Indian and, during his years as Chief Minister, every Gujarati."

"When the Oxford Dictionary included the word seva in 2024, it recognised a concept that means selfless service. In my view, Prime Minister Narendra Modi exemplifies and personifies that spirit of seva. Today, party workers and ordinary citizens alike are celebrating his contribution and service to the country. As for the opposition, they are extending their wishes for his good health while also criticising him and his government. That is their democratic right," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was born on September 17, 1950, to Hiraba and Damodardas Modi in Vadnagar in Gujarat's Mehsana district. On May 26, 2014, Narendra Modi took the oath as the Prime Minister of India, becoming the first Prime Minister to be born after India attained Independence.

BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, among several other dignitaries, also extended warm greetings to the Prime Minister on the special occasion.

BJP is organising the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan across the country from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modis birthday, with a series of service-oriented programmes and public outreach initiatives. (ANI)
