BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday paid floral tributes at the Shaheed Smarak in Haldwani in honour of soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation.

Nitin Nabin is on a two-day visit to Uttarakhand to infuse renewed energy and resolve among party workers ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Addressing the 'Ex-Servicemen Conference' there, Nabin said, "No injustice can ever befall a land that is protected by the gods themselves, a land sanctified by the sagas and sacrifices of heroes... Today, I bow in reverence to the indomitable courage of Major Somnath Sharma of the 4th Kumaon Regiment, a recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, and I pay homage to his glorious valour and renown. The motto of the Kumaon Regiment, 'Parakramo Vijayate' (Valor Triumphs), serves to energise every single soldier, including my comrades serving on the borders."

Uttarakhand CM Dhami drew parallels between a military commander and BJP chief Nitin Nabin, stating that they both provide motivation to their camps.

"Just as a military commander energises their entire army, prepares them for every conceivable situation, and ensures victory on every front, instilling in them a sense of resolute determination rather than mere options, similarly, our BJP National President, through his remarkable organisational skills and visionary leadership, is instilling a renewed spirit of national service in every party worker. He is infusing them with fresh zeal. I also extend my heartfelt salutations to every ex-serviceman present here, those who dedicated the prime of their lives to serving and protecting this nation. You did not worry about your own present; instead, you made sacrifices and devoted yourselves to ensuring a secure future for the country, a debt of service and dedication that the nation can never fully repay," he said.

Nabin, along with CM Dhami, also offered prayers and performed rituals at the Mahalaxmi Temple in Haldwani earlier in the day. After the temple visit, Nabin said that he prayed for the continued strength of India's heritage and culture, adding that Uttarakhand, known as 'Devbhoomi' (Land of Gods), reflects the true imprint of Indian culture.

"I prayed to God the way our heritage and culture are established across the world, if one wishes to witness the true imprint of Indian culture, one needs only look at this 'Devbhoomi' (Land of Gods). This sacred land remains perpetually vibrant with energy. This is the land of martyrs. The valor of our martyrs shines brightly from this soil. We believe that this land's energy, combined with development, trust, and the spirit of service with which we have worked here, will garner us the public's blessings," Nabin told reporters.

Meanwhile, Nitin Nabin and CM Dhami attended the party's Extended State Working Committee meeting at Hotel Vintage Green in Haldwani here on Wednesday.

The meeting is focused on key organisational issues, strengthening the party's grassroots network and expanding the outreach of government welfare schemes across Uttarakhand.

Senior party leaders and workers are participating in the meeting, where discussions are centred on strengthening booth-level organisation and increasing coordination among party functionaries.

The BJP leadership is also deliberating on organisational priorities and strategies to further strengthen the party's presence at the grassroots level across the state.

The meeting assumes significance as the party seeks to consolidate its organisational structure and ensure that the benefits of public welfare initiatives reach people effectively. (ANI)
