Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA K Sanjay on Thursday accused the Congress government in Telangana of preventing the opposition from raising peoples concerns in the Assembly, alleging that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy didnt want to have a discussion on issues raised by the opposition party.
His remarks came as party MLAs met at the residence of working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) to chalk out their further strategy following their suspension. Telangana state has a Chief Minister who's only playing dirty distraction politics. He knows there are multiple issues which the BRS party has been raising continuously. The CM didn't want to have a discussion on the concerns of the people or the issues raised by the BRS party, Sanjay said. He alleged that BRS legislators were prevented from participating in Assembly proceedings and thrown out of the House. On the first day he wouldn't let us come in. The second day, he was planning an attack on the former CM KCR Garu, the founder of Telangana state. And on the third day, we went in; he just threw us out in the first hour of the assembly session, he said. Sanjay also criticised the handling of protests inside the Assembly, saying the Speaker should normally facilitate discussions among political parties when disruptions occur. You look at the Parliament practices, but here none of the practices is being followed. The BRS MLAs are just thrown out of the assembly, he said. He also targeted Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over their references to the Constitution. Why does Rahul Gandhi hold the book of the Constitution around and roam around? The biggest hypocrites are Rahul Ji and Priyanka Ji; I request you to stop holding the book of the Constitution and insulting the Constitution, Sanjay said. The BRS legislators met at KTRs residence to discuss their next course of action after more than 20 party MLAs were suspended from the Assembly for the remainder of the Monsoon Session for allegedly disrupting proceedings and raising slogans. The suspension followed a ruckus after KTR sought an immediate discussion on the alleged deterioration in the law and order situation, including alleged threats against BRS supremo K Chandrashekar Rao. A day earlier, suspended BRS MLAs and MLCs, led by KTR, met Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and apprised him of issues concerning the ongoing Assembly session and the suspension of legislators. Meanwhile, Congress MP Mallu Ravi accused KTR of making a derogatory remark against Chief Minister Reddy and said he would file a complaint against the BRS leader. (ANI)
