Congress MLCs and MLAs on Wednesday criticised the BRS over the conduct of its members during protests and alleged disruption of Assembly proceedings, while also targeting BRS working president K Taraka Rama Rao over his remarks against the Telangana Chief Minister.

Congress MLC Balmoor Venkat said two MLCs were suspended over their conduct while arriving at the Assembly as part of a protest, saying the action was taken to send a message that the Upper House deserved respect and that issues should be raised through proper procedure.

Venkat alleged that the BRS was behaving in an anti-Dalit manner and criticised the party for allegedly trying to protect KCR over derogatory remarks made against a Dalit Speaker. He said KCR should have responded and apologised.

See, the BRS party is deliberately behaving in an anti-Dalit manner today. Even after making derogatory remarks against a Dalit, against the Dalit Speaker, KCR has not responded yet. He should have responded and apologised, but instead, they are trying to protect him without offering any apology, he said.

He also criticised KTRs remarks against the Chief Minister and said the Congress would protest against the BRS conduct. Venkat further objected to the alleged use of tamarind water to purify a place after members of the Dalit community held a protest there.

Congress MLA Naini Rajender Reddy accused the BRS of engaging in proxy politics by putting women at the forefront of protests outside the Assembly.

Reddy said the objectionable remarks allegedly made against the Speaker were unacceptable and urged the BRS to raise genuine issues inside the Assembly instead of holding protests outside.

If there are genuine issues, come inside the Assembly and debate. Give your suggestions; the government is ready to accept them, Reddy said.

He cited issues including rainfall deficit and concerns of students, saying they should be discussed inside the House. Reddy also criticised the BRS for allegedly wasting Assembly time, saying public money was being spent to run the legislature and people expected meaningful discussions.

Meanwhile, Congress MLC Addanki Dayakar criticised KTR over his remarks against the Chief Minister.

KTR is the cheap politician in Telangana now. He is using filthy and the cheapest language in his political career. He is using the cheapest political comments now against the CM. He made a big mistake. That kind of words are not parliamentary wordshe is using unparliamentary, he is using filthy, using undemocratic words against the CM, Dayakar said. (ANI)
