Chandigarh Police recover suspected IED and firearm; 3 arrested

Chandigarh Police apprehended three persons in connection with a case involving a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) and a firearm, officials said on Sunday.

The police recovered a suspected IED and other material from the apprehended persons in an area behind the Sector-43 bus stand in Chandigarh.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station 36, Chandigarh, and an investigation into the matter is underway.

Following the recovery, security arrangements at the site have been tightened, while investigative agencies are examining the recovered items.

"In a major operation, the police recovered suspicious items from behind the Sector-43 bus stand in Chandigarh. Chandigarh Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the case. The police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation. Security arrangements at the site have been tightened, and investigative agencies are examining the recovered items. The investigation is currently underway, and the police may share further details regarding the matter soon," as per Chandigarh Police.

Chandigarh Police said there was no need for panic and that necessary preventive measures were being taken to ensure public safety.
