Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka on Sunday demanded the arrest of those involved in the alleged violence during the party workers' visit to a government school in Jaipur's Rampura-Kanwarpura village, reiterating that the Rajasthan government must act on the FIRs filed in connection with the incident.
Ranka said those accused of allegedly indulging in violence and inciting the confrontation should be arrested and maintained that the party was ready to face action if there was evidence against its own workers. "Regarding those who engaged in hooliganism and incited violence-arrest them. Take action on the FIRs we have filed. If you believe we also engaged in hooliganism, arrest us too. But you would need evidence. We have evidence that we have shared in the public domain," Ranka told ANI. He urged the government to focus on improving the condition of government schools across Rajasthan instead of "wasting time on theatrics and violence". "Show your commitment and focus on fixing all the schools in Rajasthan. You would only be wasting time on theatrics and violence. You faced nationwide embarrassment. There was no need for the incident that occurred the other day," he said. Ranka said the CJP had raised two demands following the incident - improvement and reconstruction of the affected school and action against those allegedly responsible for the violence. According to Ranka, the government has accepted the first demand, with reconstruction work at the school scheduled to begin from September 1 and an allocation of 18 lakh reportedly made for the project. "One demand has been met, and the other is now in the government's court. The sooner the government takes action, the sooner we will close this chapter," he said. The CJP spokesperson, however, made it clear that the party would continue to press for action on the second demand. "If the government thinks we will back down, let me reiterate that we are not the kind of people who retreat. You have seen our experience at Jantar Mantar," Ranka said. He also called upon the government to ensure that the focus remains on education and the condition of schools, saying that improving school infrastructure would directly benefit students. "That is what will secure our children's future," he said. The dispute had emerged after CJP workers visited a government school in Rampura-Kanwarpura as part of the party's campaign to raise issues concerning government-school infrastructure and education facilities. The visit reportedly led to a confrontation with locals, with allegations of assault and violence being levelled by the party. Ranka said CJP workers would continue their outreach programme and visit government schools in different parts of Rajasthan. He said the party was also travelling to Jodhpur for a previously scheduled programme related to education policy and would meet party workers there. Over the following days, CJP workers are expected to visit districts in western Rajasthan and interact with residents while examining the condition of government schools. Ranka also addressed questions over a photograph showing him with Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Tika Ram Jully, saying that meeting political leaders should not be interpreted as an indication of political affiliation. "I have stood with Bhajan Lal ji as well. I had gone to submit a memorandum to him on the Dholpur flood issue. I will put that photograph in the public domain today. Then you can call me part of the BJP team too," he said. Ranka maintained that the CJP's immediate focus remained on the two issues raised after the school incident - improving school infrastructure and ensuring action against those allegedly responsible for the violence.
