The Election Commission's ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign reached senior government officials and public representatives in Uttarakhand as part of a district-wide door-to-door voter verification exercise aimed at updating electoral rolls.
During the verification drive, notices were served at the residences of Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, BJP MLA from Nainital Sarita Arya, and several other prominent residents of the town. According to officials, the notice delivered to the residence of Nainital MLA Sarita Arya sought the required voter verification details of both the legislator and her younger son. A similar notice was also served at the residence of Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat as part of the ongoing exercise. The development comes as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) continue to visit households across the district to verify voter information and collect necessary details under the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision campaign. Speaking to ANI, Nainital Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nawazish Khalik said that the exercise is being carried out in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission to ensure that electoral rolls remain accurate, updated and free from errors. "The campaign is being conducted as per the directions of the Election Commission. Its objective is to maintain accurate and updated electoral rolls. Booth Level Officers are visiting households to verify voter details and collect the required information," Khalik said. He further clarified that the campaign is being implemented uniformly across the district and applies to every eligible voter, irrespective of whether the individual is an ordinary citizen or holds a constitutional, political or administrative office. The verification process also enables eligible citizens to update personal details and correct any inaccuracies in voter records before the publication of revised electoral rolls. The district administration has appealed to residents to cooperate with Booth Level Officers during the verification exercise and provide the required information to facilitate timely completion of the revision process.
