NCP-SP MLA Rohit Pawar on Tuesday called for a time-bound and transparent investigation into alleged paper leak irregularities surrounding the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations.
"Rishikesh Gangurde, who is also a complainant about the paper leak which happened in MPSC, has been called because we went to the secretary of MPSC yesterday. We went to the police also, and we requested that a transparent investigation happen in this particular case, and the names which were mentioned in the letter or the documents that we gave, they have called everyone. But they have just called them; the investigation has not yet started. We expect a transparent investigation, and in the next 10-15 days, I hope we get a report on that particular paper leak which happened in MPSC," he said. Speaking to the reporters, Pawar criticised the Maharashtra government over the lack of a comprehensive anti-paper leak law in the state, pointing out that proposals to strengthen examination laws remain pending. "We have tried many times that a special bill should be passed in Maharashtra in the last 4-5 years. Some years back, the President of this country told all the states to have their own paper leak policy or Bill. Then the Maharashtra government brought a bill, but that bill was incomplete. Based on that, you know I had proposed a lot of things. Unfortunately, in Maharashtra, that discussion on that bill has not yet happened. The points which we were expressing or which we were putting forward have not been accepted by the state government," he said. Meanwhile, Rishikesh Gangurde, the whistleblower in the alleged irregularities in the MPSC Drug Inspector examination held on March 22, alleged that candidates received nearly half the exam questions two days prior to the test under the guise of practice materials. "On July 23, I obtained evidence regarding the MPSC Drug Inspector exam held on 22 March. It turned out that a selected group of students had received, under the guise of 'guess papers', 90 of the 200 questions that actually appeared in the exam; they received these on March 20, two days before the test," he said. Gangurde demanded advanced investigative measures, calling for a thorough forensic probe into digital footprints and private coaching networks. "We are now demanding a forensic investigation. We want a thorough probe, including forensic analysis of mobile phones and the entire network involved, such as the coaching classes, to expose the whole chain of people behind this. We have been summoned to the Byculla police station today in connection with this matter, following which a meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also been scheduled," he said. (ANI)
