Karnataka's Jnanabharathi Police on Friday registered an FIR against the administrative staff of a school in Bengaluru, following a complaint of alleged assault and harassment of a 13-year-old student.
According to the FIR registered on Wednesday at Jnanabharathi PS, the incident occurred on Tuesday, Tuesday between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The complaint was filed by Maheshkumar (45), a businessman and resident of the same address, who is the father of the victim. In his complaint, Maheshkumar alleged that on Tuesday, his 13-year-old son, Samarth M, a Class 7 student, was assaulted by school authorities in Bengaluru. He claimed that 2-3 teachers and other staff members beat the child with their hands, and that the Administrative Secretary and Principal also used abusive language. The complainant further alleged that when he went to the school to inquire, the staff spoke rudely and behaved inappropriately. He has accused them of violating the Juvenile Justice Act, 1986, the RTE Act, 2009, and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The Police have named the Administrative Secretary of the school, Mariyappanapalya, the Principal, and 2 to 3 Teachers at St Philomina School, Mariyappanapalya, as the key accused in the FIR. The case has been registered under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 1986, under sections 115(2), 118(1), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and under section 17 of the TRE Act, 2009. The FIR was received in writing at Jnanabharathi Police Station today at 12:30 PM. Police have taken up an investigation into the matter. The FIR was dispatched to the 6th ACMM Court today at 1:30 PM. No arrests have been reported yet. Further investigation is underway. (ANI)
