Jharkhand Minister for Industries Sanjay Prasad Yadav on Tuesday inaugurated the Jharkhand Pavilion at Bharat Tex 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, showcasing six Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged handloom products to present the state's rich textile heritage, traditional craftsmanship and the skills of its artisans before national and international buyers.

The pavilion features Tassar Silk, Kuchai Silk, Bhagaiya Saree and Fabric, Tumka Chadar, Bhoya Saree and Fabric, and Pancho Saree and Fabric, reflecting Jharkhand's cultural identity and centuries-old weaving traditions.

Speaking on the occasion, Yadav said, "Our identity should extend beyond the boundaries of our state and reach national as well as global markets. By showcasing Jharkhand's rich handloom and textile heritage on international platforms, we aim to create greater employment opportunities within the state so that our youth do not have to migrate in search of livelihoods. More employment will accelerate the economic growth and overall development of Jharkhand."

The Minister said Bharat Tex 2026 provides an important platform to connect Jharkhand's traditional textile products with national and global markets, create new business opportunities for weavers and artisans, and integrate the state's textile sector into the global value chain.

According to the release, Bharat Tex 2026 has emerged as a premier global platform for business, investment, innovation, policy dialogue and strategic partnerships across the textile and apparel value chain. The event highlights India's growing global leadership in textiles, fashion, sustainability, technological innovation, investment and international trade.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Director, Department of Industries, Vishal Sagar; Additional Secretary, Department of Industries, Preeti; and other senior officials of the department.

Bharat Tex 2026 has brought together manufacturers, exporters, global buyers, investors, policymakers, international delegations, start-ups, technology providers and artisans from across India and around the world, making it one of the largest textile industry gatherings globally. (ANI)
