Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi on Tuesday questioned the alleged delay in police action over a complaint against a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) functionary accused of sexually harassing and attempting to kidnap a young woman in Tamil Nadu's Karur district, and urged TVK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay to take immediate action.

In a post on X, Kanimozhi questioned why no action had been taken despite a police complaint being filed against the Krishnarayapuram TVK Union Secretary.

"Why has no appropriate action been taken despite a police complaint being filed against the Krishnarayapuram TVK Union Secretary, who sexually harassed and attempted to kidnap a young woman near Kulithalai?" she wrote

She further targeted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and said that the chief minister should not only take immediate action against the accused but also school his party members on self-discipline.

"Chief Minister Mr. @TVKVijayHQ, who holds the police portfolio, should not only take immediate action against the accused party member but also, first and foremost, school his party members on self-discipline," she added.

Kanimozhi's remarks came amid allegations that a TVK Union Secretary from Krishnarayapuram sexually harassed a young woman and attempted to kidnap her near Kulithalai. The DMK MP questioned the lack of action despite a police complaint having been filed and demanded immediate action against the accused.

Further details in the matter are awaited. (ANI)
